Items collected during Green Move Out will go towards donation and a community sale in the West Ward neighborhood in Easton.
At the end of every spring semester, Lafayette students move out of their residence halls and off campus houses and find they have items they can not or do not want to take with them. Rather than have these items go into the landfill, Lafayette College volunteers collect and sort the gently used clothing, appliances, books, kitchen equipment, and more. Items sold at the West Ward Sale benefit campus-community efforts to drive a just transition to a low carbon future. This includes internships, scholarships, and educational programming centered on issues of food sovereignty, environmental justice, regenerative ecosystems, and zero waste.
Items for sale include clothes, furniture, kitchenware, appliances, and other household goods. Items are sold through a “pay-what-you-can” model with suggested pricing. The average suggested price of items for sale will be $1.00 per item.
