West Ward Market
LaFarm distributes produce to address food insecurity in Easton. This past growing season, a portion of the harvest was distributed via the Kellyn Foundation to food-insecure community members throughout the Lehigh Valley, including at the West Ward Market, a new market located in a food-insecure neighborhood of Easton.
Community-Focused Fellowships
Made possible through funding from Capital Blue Cross, this year Triniti DiSilvestro ‘24, Josh Joseph ‘24, and Fatma Elbanna ‘26 participated in a Fellowship program offered by the Landis Center for Community Engagement and the Office of Sustainability. These students helped grow, harvest and distribute produce from LaFarm and the Easton Urban Farm, while surveying and gaining insights into residents’ access to fresh produce.
West Ward Sale
The Office of Sustainability and Landis Center for Community Engagement partnered with Paxinosa Elementary School to host the West Ward Sale using a pay-what-you-can pricing model for items donated through Green Move Out. 119 volunteers from 17 departments helped collect, sort and redistribute 4,300+ items. Remaining sale items were returned to the campus community through student-led Thrift Store, with the intention of bringing materials full circle back to our hyper-local community.
Sustainability Summer Camp
Earnings from the West Ward Sale were used to fund a Sustainability Summer Camp aimed at bringing local 3-5th graders to LaFarm and campus to learn about environmental topics. The program was planned and run by sustainability and LaFarm fellows and interns.
