L.E.A.P. Lafayette Environmental Awareness and Protection (LEAP) spearheads a number of events, such as Earth Week during April, and educates the campus community about reducing its impact on the environment through issues such as food waste, recycling, and energy usage. SEES Society of Environmental Engineers and Scientists (SEES) focuses on advancing knowledge within the environmental field through research projects that range from composting techniques to methods of improving water quality. They also spread knowledge to K-12 children in the community through regular activities with local schools and a STEM Camp on campus during the summer. Landis Community Outreach Center The Landis Community Outreach Center is developing programs that relate to sustainability. Some programs coordinate with local organizations, such as the Nurture Nature Center and the Easton Farmers Market, which require weekly volunteers for their efforts and services to the Easton community.
Eco-Rep Program Are you interested in getting involved in sustainability on campus? Do you have a passion for the environment you want to share with others in your residence halls? Become an Eco-Rep for your house or hall! Sustainable Living Certificate Students can measure their environmental practices and behaviors to be certified through the Sustainable Living Certificate. The certificate fosters sustainable living on campus.
Food Recovery Network This club seeks to work with the Sustainability Director and Dining Services to recover unused food from dining halls around campus and donate it to local food pantries and food banks. This will build on existing food recovery efforts that have been created and maintained by the founders of this club, utilizing institutional recognition and the agency that comes with it to expand these programs in order to normalize and preserve sustainable food practices on the Lafayette campus. The group's goal is to raise awareness of the negative effects of plastic water bottles and to stave the campus from using them.
