Hey everybody! Welcome to the November’s blog post of seasonal and seasoned. We will be featuring a monthly recipe with a seasonal produce item and can be picked up from Easton Farmers Market. It’s important to shop seasonal in order to support local farmers, preserve the environment and it’s good for your health! A win-win for everyone.

The featured item of this month is pears! If you’re a student at Lafayette you have probably seen the abundance of pears available. Making a pear crisp is easy and a warm, and tasty fall dessert. All you are doing is chopping, mixing, and baking. Perfect for everyone who doesn’t have a lot of time to spend in the kitchen but still wants their home full of fall flavors.

The ingredients you will need are:

▶4 pears

▶2 tablespoons of vanilla extract

▶½ cup and ¼ cup of brown sugar

▶½ cup and 2 tablespoons of all purpose flour

▶½ cup of oatmeal

▶½ cup of butter

▶Cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, salt  or any other seasonings of your choice

1.First things first preheat your oven to 350 degrees F and butter your baking dish.

2. Wash the pears, and cut them into smaller pieces. Discard the core and seeds.

3. In a bowl mix the pears, vanilla extract, ¼ cup of brown sugar, 2 tablespoons of all purpose flour and the seasonings of your choice. Place this mixture in your baking dish.

4.In the same bowl mix together the oatmeal, butter, ½ cup of all purpose flour, ½ cup of brown sugar and seasonings of your choice. Place this crumbly mixture on top of the seasoned pears.

5. Bake for about 35-45 min

6. Enjoy and try not to finish it in one sitting ;)
